Yoga Centering / Jin Shin Jyutsu

Centering alignment and balance are the primary principles through what I have named yoga alignment mudras.These are uniquely developed  from the restorative poses of Iyengar  yoga training . All from a centered inner core.

All of these poses are horizontal variations over different combinations of blocks,blankets, and chairs. These are simple timed precise poses that bring tremendous joy  and calm  with an ever deepening  relaxation  and understanding of our true selves. 

All of these poses are taught in a way that are are struggle free and are horizontal variations that are worked with in a collaborative  and playful way unique to each pose and body, so that body consciousness begins to arise. An ever deepening  connection to our inner selves including a nourishing development of our intuitive instinctual capability bringing  a greater ease in living.

This too  brings a greater sense of wholeness and wellness within and the world around us enabling us to align in a peaceful way with everyday tensions and stresses.

Included in the one and a quarter hour class is the self help aspect of Jin Shin Jyutsu, an ancient gentle harmonizing art also named acutouch.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient gentle art that for centuries was lost and re- discovered by master Jurai Murai in Japan at the end of the 1800's. The self help allows the natural flow pathways in the body to re-establish themselves, allowing the body to re-generate . This  was once called the art of longevity.

Jin Shin Jyutsu offers an intensified awareness, understanding and techniques for harmonizing and integrating the many levels of ourselves.

This also invites us with our own hands as jumper cables, to use simple combinations for self help to harmonize our our own daily tensions and stresses at any required level - be it body mind emotion and spirit.

Yoga was the entry for Zena into wholeness now 42 years ago.

Iyengar yoga with its rigorous discipline, its deep requirement for alignment, precision and balance ignited  an unquenchable thirst for exploring body/mind/spirit and beyond.

Iyengar Yoga intensives in Pune India,studying with Iyengar senior teachers in South Africa and America over a period of 18 years are all part of her dedicated continuing training,and   experience   

The beautiful harmonizing art of Jin Shin Jyutsu, entered her life in 1998.and led her to attending many seminars . Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient art of the the harmonizing of the life energy in the body though touch. Through Jin Shin Jyutsu we are awakened to the simple fact that  we are endowed with the ability to harmonize and balance ourselves with our own hands and understanding.

Zena's approach to wholeness is one of deep insight. Her constant dedicated practice, studies and teaching of yoga, astrology, 7 years of Zen training with Charlotte Joko Beck, American Zen Master and Jin Shin Jyutsu invoke a sense of self discovery and innovative ways of developing the healing arts and sciences both within herself and those she works with.

Zena has an intelligent and sensitive approach which inspires a unique sense of exploration and playfulness in those she works with.
